You Are a Light Bearer But Are You Shinning?
Your light has the power to illuminate even the darkest corners of the world.
In a world often overshadowed by darkness, shining forth your light can bring hope, love, and transformation to those around you. It is a powerful way to make a positive impact and inspire others to embrace the True Light and then shine their own light. But what does it mean to shine forth your light?
Becoming light and shining forth
The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. John 1:9
Jesus is the true Light that illuminates every person, bringing genuine, unwavering brightness into the world. When we encounter Jesus and surrender ourselves to Him, we are not only recipients of His light but also called to become light ourselves. This means that our lives, words, and actions should reflect the radiance of Jesus, shining brightly to guide others toward Him.
Shining forth your light is a calling.
Every Believer has a calling to be light in the world.
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5: 14–16
The verses above encourage us to let our light shine before others, so that they may witness our moral excellence, noble deeds, and ultimately give glory to our Heavenly Father.
You are meant to illuminate the darkness around you, making a noticeable impact on those who encounter you.
To shine, embrace the True Light
Just as Jesus is described as the true Light in the Bible, by seeking a deeper relationship with Him, you can reflect His radiance in your words, actions, and character.
To be light, you have to study the lifestyle of Jesus, His teachings, and His responses to various situations. It is through this understanding that you can align your life with His example.
You must also recognize the importance of relying on the Holy Spirit for guidance and empowerment. He can help you overcome the desires of the flesh and live a life that reflects the character of Christ.
Be bold, tell your redemption story
It can be tempting to hide your light due to peer pressure, fear, or timidity. However, you must remember that Jesus did not illuminate you to hide but to shine forth brilliantly. In Matthew 5:14–15, we are described as the light of the world, placed on a lampstand to bring light to all in our midst.
As illuminated individuals, we have a responsibility to share our stories of deliverance and transformation as each person has a unique story.
By sharing your experiences of how Jesus has brought light and hope into your life, you can help others find their own path to freedom. Our lives are meant to be testimonies that inspire and guide others toward the ultimate source of light, which is Jesus.
Wherever you go, your presence should dispel darkness and bring about positive change. Through your words, actions, and character, you have the opportunity to transform the lives of those around you, leading them from darkness to light, and ultimately bringing glory to God.
I pray you embrace your calling to be a light-bearer, living out your purpose of illuminating the world with the love and truth of Jesus.”
You have been illuminated to illuminate, Shine!
